Rushford and Houston are only 12 miles apart and located in the beautiful Root River Valley of Southeastern Minnesota, and along the Historic Bluff Country Scenic Byway.
You will find easy access to the 42-mile Root River State Trail to enjoy biking, walking, in-line skating, and cross country skiing. The Root River flows through both towns where you can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. Other fishing opportunities are close with many trout streams and the Mississippi River nearby. There are many opportunities for naturalists and bird watchers with natural areas and state parks. We are surrounded by wooded hills where wildlife abounds. Hunters will find an abundance of small and large game including grouse, pheasants, turkeys and deer. Rushford and Houston are a great starting point for snowmobiliers with many groomed trails, ATVs, motorcycles and scenic drives. Both towns are central to many attractions, tours, dining, shopping, entertainment and more.
